Scott has a BA in mass communications from UC Berkeley and a masters in journalism from CU Boulder. His children's book, Henry's Big Star Adventure, came out in 2015 and he just finished a memoir about love, a "vision quest," misadventure in India, ayahuasca, and discovering strength and connection in allowing vulnerability.

His writing has appeared in Sunset and Copa Airlines’ Panorama, among others. He was the editor-at-large for Adventure Sports magazine, and has taught at the Jackson Hole Writers Conference. In addition to writing, he is a co-founder and managing partner at Bright Antenna Records.

His podcast, Love, Loss & Hallucinations, launched in 2025.
